Joyce Grove

Our 15-strong crew worked mainly in the secret garden today, cutting back trees branches growing through the high yew hedges, reducing large shrubs on the perimeter and re-shaping smaller shrubs in the central beds. The cut material was hauled to a grassy area above the ha-ha for eventual removal by a tractor-hauled trailer.
The sunshine was warm on our backs in the shelter of the secret garden, and we enjoyed the swathes of daffodils blooming along the vista, also the lemon cake and carrot cake for elevenses.
