The Lashbrook, which runs alongside Mill Road in Shiplake, widens into a pond where it is bridged for access to the Lashbrook Home. The pond had become silted up with debris and vegetation, so Shiplake Parish Council requested SCGG gradually to clear the pond and its margins in a plan to make it a more open wildlife area. Alongside local volunteers, the group has removed a lot of dead wood and rubbish from the pond, together with overhanging branches and encroaching scrub. Water fowl now happily nest by the pond, which will receive further attention when needed.
