Site: Streatley Churchyard

Streatley Churchyard

The churchyard lies mainly to the north of the parish church of St Mary in Streatley High Street. Being a fairly typical churchyard, it consists of many graves with invasive scrub. A hedge runs up the eastern side separating it from the lane leading to the Thames Water sewage works.

Sonning Common Green Gym works here periodically to keep the graves free of surrounding material and also to trim the hedge back once a year.

It’s a very pleasant place to work.

Meeting Point

As the parking in Streatley High Street is often difficult, we meet in the same place as for Cleeve Meadow. Turn right at the traffic lights at the top of Streatley High Street and follow the A329 for half a mile towards Wallingford. Turn right down the lane marked Cleeve Court and park in the car park on the right. Walk down the lane a short distance and turn right on to the footpath which leads you to the back of the churchyard. The walk takes about 10 minutes.

Meeting place: SU 596812.
